Henry T. Darlington

Henry Townsend Darlington was born in Birminghan, Chester County, Pennsylvania on September 17th, 1832. He moved to Doylestown as a young man and was best known as the publisher of the Bucks County Intelligencer for over 23 years (from 1855 to 1878).

His biggest memorial left to the town was his building of the wonderful structure in Monument Square (Court and Main Street) today known as the ‘Intelligencer Building’. Mr. Darling was the manager of the Doylestown Cemetery from 1866 to his death in 1878.

He died very young at the age of 46, collapsing on East Court Street while on his way to work one morning.
