George Lear

Hon George Lear was a self-made man. He was born on a Warwick farm in 1818 and was entirely on his own by the age of 13 without money or formal education.

He worked as a farm hand for many years but desperately wanted to be educated. He was taken in by the William Kitchin Family of Solebury and in 1837 studied to become a teacher.

Years later he began to study law under Eleazer T. McDowell Doylestown and was admitted to the bar in 1844. He would work hard become the intelligent, hard working, industrious and have a sturdy common sense.

He would become head of the Bucks County bar and become President of Doylestown National Bank. He would die in his Doylestown home in 1884.
