George Hart was a local attorney and businessman. He was in business for several years with his brother Josiah and some others prior to the civil war, starting a banking institution called J Hart & Co.
He was married three times during his lifetime, first to Zillida Goff, second to Sara Cornell and finally to Martha Watson.
He fought during the civil war, but it took its toll on him as he died in April of 1871 at 53 as a result of exposure during the war, leaving eldest son Edward as the man of the family.
Edward Hart would go on to be a famous chemist and businessman in Easton.
