B.F. Fackenthall

Benjamin Frank Fackenthall was born in 1852 raised in upper Bucks County. He married Sara Jane Reigel from the family that founded Reigelsville, in 1975. He ran the famous ‘Durham Iron Works’ in Durham for many years where he built his wealth.

He moved from Durham to Reigelsville then finally to Doylestown. He lived on East Court Street with his niece and nephew, Howard & Nellie Groff who owned a Coal and Lumberyard.

His love of History and dedication to the BCHS let him to become its third President, succeeding WWH Davis and Henry Chapman Mercer. He prided himself on his speech giving and historical research skills.
