Alfred Magill

Alfred Magill was one of the sons of William Magill who owned a large track of land on the south side of West State Street in the early days of Doylestown.

Alfred lived his early years at his family home at the corner of West State and Main Street, today it is where “pAper Unicorn” has its building.

After his father Williams death in 1824, Alfred inherited a tract of land on South Main Street where he built a home for himself and his soon to be wife Jane Mann around 1827.

It was said he also taught school at that location, one of towns earliest schools. Today this house is the home of the Doylestown Historical Society.
